Lionsgate nappasi Kane & Lynchin leffaoikeudet

Variety kertoo Lionsgaten ostaneen Kane & Lynch: Dead Menin elokuvaoikeudet. Peliä kehittää IO Interactive Xbox 360:lle ja PC:lle. Leffan tuottajina toimivat Adrian Askarieh ja Daniel Alter.

Synkän pelin pääosassa ovat palkkasotilas Kane ja skitsofreenikko Lynch, jotka odottavat kuolemantuomionsa täytäntöön panemista. Kaksikko joutuu kuitenkin yllättäen työskentelemään yhdessä, sillä Kanen entiset toverit pakottavat heidät noutamaan Kanen piilottaman saaliin.

Square Enixiltä verkkoroolipeli Xbox 360:lle ja Vistalle

Square Enixin Hiromichi Tanaka on vahvistanut Pro-G:n haastattelussa, että yhtiö työstää parhaillaan Windows Vistalle ja Xbox 360:lle verkkoroolipeliä. Tarkempia yksityiskohtia projektista ei vielä tiedetä, mutta pelin julkaiseminen PlayStation 3:lle ei ole sekään poissuljettua.

Tulevan MMORPG:n ohella Tanaka työskentelee edelleen Final Fantasy XI:n parissa.

Enemy Territory: Quake Wars PS3:lle ja X360:lle

Id Software ja Activision ovat vahvistaneet tiimipohjaisen Enemy Territory: Quake Wars -FPS-pelin ilmestyvän PC:n lisäksi myös PlayStation 3:lle ja Xbox 360:lle. Id Softwaren valvonnan alaisuudessa PS3-version kehittää Z-Axis, kun taas Xbox 360 -versiosta on vastuussa Nerve Software.

Kysehän on taas maailmanrauhaa häiritsemään tulleista muukalaisista ja pelaaja voi valita puolekseen perinteisesti aseistetun Global Defense Force -armeijan tai futuristisemmin varustetut Strogg-valtausjoukot. Molemmissa on valittavana viisi taistelijaluokkaa omine aseineen ja varusteineen.

Sony hakee säästöjä Cell-tuotantoon

Sonyn puolijohdebisnestä johtava ja siten myös PS3:n Cell-prosessorin tuotannosta vastaava Yutaka Nakagawa on kertonut yhtiön vähentävän merkittävästi prosessorien tuotantoon suunnattavia varoja. Pyrkimyksenä on saada puolijohdebisnes voitolliseksi huhtikuussa alkavan seuraavan tilivuoden aikana.

Nakagawan mukaan Sonyn tavoitteena ei ole pysyä prosessorien valmistukseen erikoistuneiden yritysten vauhdissa, vaan tarkoitus on parantaa tuotannon tehokkuutta.

Vegasin räiskintäkarkelot laajenevat

IGN on saanut ongittua tietoonsa yksityiskohtia laajennuksesta, jonka Ubisoft aikoo julkaista Rainbow Six Vegasiin maaliskuun lopulla. Player's Pack Red Edition -nimellä kulkeva paketti sisältää viisi kenttää ja kaksi pelimuotoa. Hinnasta ei vielä ole kerrottu tarkempia tietoja.

Lisäpaketin viidestä kentästä itse asiassa vain kolme on uusia. Lähellä Fremont Streetiä sijaitsevaan Doscala Restaurantiin sijoittuva kartta päästää pelaajat räiskimään italialaisravintolan ilmapiirissä.

Gran Turismo 5 Prologue syksyllä?

Muun muassa PlayFrance kertoo Sony Computer Entertainment Francen ilmoittaneen, että Gran Turismo 5 Prologue tulee ladattavaksi PS Storeen ensi syksynä. GT5 Prologue tuo mukanaan myös verkkopelaamisen GT-sarjaan Gran Turismo Networkin muodossa.

Aivan varmana tietona voidaan kertoa, että Gran Turismo HD Concept on ladattavissa PS Storesta ilmaiseksi heti konsolin julkaisupäivänä. Mukana on yksi rata sekä kymmenkunta autoa.

Varsinaista Gran Turismo 5 -peliä saadaan odottaa ainakin ensi vuoden keväälle.

Live Arcadessa jaetaan lehtiä

Tämän viikon Live Arcade -julkaisu on kolikkopeliklassikko Paperboy. Pelissä on tarkoituksena jakaa lehtiä vilkkaalla lähiöalueella. Pyöräilevä lehdenjakaja joutuu varomaan paitsi liikennettä myös asiakkaiden omaisuuden vahingoittamista.

Paperboy sisältää seitsemän tasoa ja kolme vaikeusastetta. Alkuperäistä 80-luvun julkaisua on ehostettu muun muassa moninpelillä, Live-tuloslistoilla ja 12 saavutusmerkinnällä.

Peli tulee ladattavaksi Xbox 360:n Live Arcade -palveluun huomenna. Hintaa sillä on 400 Microsoft-pistettä eli alle viisi euroa.

Crackdown päivittyy jo julkaisupäivänään

Pelisivusto IGN:n mukaan Microsoftin Crackdown-rymistely päivittyy jo julkaisupäivänään 23. helmikuuta. Päivitys korjaa Crackdownin yhteistyömoninpelistä ja pelinhausta löytyneitä puutteita, joita ei havaittu ennen painoon menoa.

Microsoftin kustantamassa ja Real Time Worldsin kehittämässä Crackdownissa pelaaja pääsee leikkimään kaupunkia hallitsevaa superagenttia. Tarkoituksena on murentaa kolme rikollisjärjestöä pomo pomolta, mutta mitään ennalta määrättyä polkua ei tarvitse kulkea. Toimiessaan pelaaja kehittää myös hahmonsa kykyjä.

Activision on ilmoittanut Lego Star Wars -peleillä mainetta keränneen Traveller's Talesin kehittävän tulevaan Transformers-leffaan perustuvaa peliä.

Pelaaja voi taistella joko Autobottien tai Decepticonien riveissä ja tavoitteena on joko maan puolustaminen tai tuhoaminen. Jokaisella hahmolla on tietenkin erityisaseensa ja -liikkeensä, jotka pelaajan tulee hallita. Ympäristöt ovat täysin tuhottavia ja kaikkea irti lähtevää voi käyttää aseina vastustajien kukistamiseksi.

James Bond pelastaa PlayStation 3:n julkaisun

PlayStation 3 saa Euroopan julkaisussa avukseen itsensä James Bondin, sillä Sony lupaa 500 000:lle ensimäiselle PS3:nsa verkkoon rekisteröineelle ilmaisen Casino Royale -leffan blu-ray -levyllä.

Pohjois-Amerikassa 400 000 ensimmäistä PS3:n ostajaa sai mukaansa Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby -BD-leffan, joten ainakin sen puolesta eurooppalaisilla kävi parempi tuuri.

PlayStation 3 julkaistaan Euroopassa 23. maaliskuuta.
