Tämä on ensimmäinen kerta kun huippusuosittu Dead or Alive -pelisarja nähdään Nintendon pelilaitteella. Peli hyödyntää Nintendo 3DS:n uusia ominaisuuksia, kuten 3D-näyttöä ja StreetPass-toimintoa. StreetPass-toiminnon kautta taistelut käydään virtuaalisesti ja palkintona niistä saa avattua pelin sisäisiä keräilyfiguureja mitä useammin toimintoa käytetään.

Nopeatempoinen ja visuaalisesti näyttävä Dead or Alive Dimensions sisältää yli 25 taistelijaa. Erikoisliikkeiden tekeminen on tavallista helpompaa kosketusnäytön kautta.
