Guinnessin ennätysten kirjan tämänvuotinen pelaajapainos listaa 50 kaikkien aikojen suosituinta pelihahmoa ja kärkeen nousi odotetusti Mario. Putkimieshän nähtiin ensimmäistä kertaa jo vuoden 1981 Donkey Kong -pelissä, jolloin hänet tunnettiin vielä yksinkertaisesti nimellä Jumpman.
Nintendo-suosikki löytyy myös toiselta sijalta Legend of Zelda -sarjan Linkin muodossa. Kolmanneksi nousi eeppisen Halo-saagan Master Chief.

Aivan oikeutettu ykkössija, pelihahmo on yhtä kuin Mario ja sen lähes kaikki tietävät vaikka eivät olisi mitään pelanneet, oi niitä NES aikoja. Moni muu hahmo olisi kyllä noussut ennen Master Chieffiä ja Nico Bellickkiä minun listalle.
